How to make peanut butter and Nutella sandwich

Nutella peanut butter breakfast

  • Nutella: A rich, creamy spread made from the combination of roasted hazelnuts, skim milk, and a hint of cocoa. Its smooth texture and deep chocolate flavor make it a delightful partner to peanut butter.
  • Peanut Butter: Opt for a chunky variant to add an extra crunch to your sandwich. Peanut butter is not just flavorful but also packed with protein and healthy fats, making it a nutritious choice.
  • Whole Grain Bread with Seeds: This type of bread not only adds a rustic taste but also packs a punch of fiber and nutrients thanks to the whole grains and seeds. Its hearty texture holds up well against the creaminess of the Nutella and peanut butter.
  • Banana: Slices of banana add sweetness, moisture, and a fruity flavor that complements both the Nutella and peanut butter perfectly. Plus, bananas are a great source of potassium and dietary fiber.
  • Peanuts: Adding crushed peanuts introduces an additional layer of crunch and nuttiness, enhancing the overall sensory experience of the sandwich.
  • Sesame Seeds: Sprinkle some sesame seeds on top for a slight nutty flavor and a bit of crunch. They also contribute a boost of calcium, iron, and magnesium to your sandwich.

Substitutes

If you have any dietary restrictions or preferences, there are plenty of substitutes that can be used in this sandwich. You can use almond butter or cashew butter instead of peanut butter, and any type of bread such as whole wheat, multigrain or even a bagel. You can also add other fruits like strawberries or apples to switch up the flavors.

Equipment needed

  • Knife: To spread the Nutella and peanut butter on the bread.
  • Cutting board: For slicing the banana.
  • Toaster or pan: Optional – To toast the bread for a crispy texture.
  • Plate: To hold your sandwich.

Instructions

The instructions for this tasty treat cannot be easier!

  1. On each slice of bread spread a layer of peanut butter and a layer of Nutella
  2. Sprinkle sesame seeds on both sides and peanuts on one side.
  3. Slice banana and add the slices on one side only, over the peanuts.
  4. Close the sandwich.
  5. Optional – grill on both sides in some butter, in a non-stick pan over medium heat, until the crust is slightly golden (I didn’t, I thought it’s going to make the sandwich taste too heavy for my taste).

  • For a more indulgent treat, replace the whole grain bread with brioche or challah bread.

What goes with Nutella sandwich

This sandwich is a complete meal on its own, but if you want to add some more nutrients to your breakfast, you can pair it with a side of fresh fruit such as grapes or apples or a glass of milk. And of course it goes very well with a nice cup of hot coffee.

This Nutella sandwich looks so good! We used to buy Nutella all the time but haven’t had it in a while for some reason. I love to make all sorts of sandwiches w/ it – PB, marshmallow fluff, banana, basically anything that would taste good w/ chocolate lol. I think I need some now.
