How to make French fries craft

Create a fun French fries craft with just a handful of materials like craft sticks, felt, and glue!

Materials

Here’s what you’ll need to bring your French fries craft to life:

  • Craft Sticks (Jumbo): These will be the fries. Their size makes painting and gluing easy.
  • Wiggle Eyes: Add character and personality to your fries.
  • Craft Felt (Red, Pink): Used to make the fry carton and cheeks for your fries.
  • Glitter Glue (Clear): Acts as the “salt” on your fries. Adds sparkle and fun!
  • Acrylic Craft Paint (Golden Yellow): For painting the craft sticks into fry-like perfection.

Equipment

  • Black Marker: For outlining and adding details.
  • Glue Gun and Glue Sticks (Low Temp): A quick and easy way to assemble your craft.
  • Paintbrush: For applying paint and spreading glitter glue.
  • Scissors: For cutting the felt and craft sticks.
  • Patterns: Download and print French fry carton patterns for easy tracing.

Instructions to make the French Fries Craft

First, I gathered my supplies and painted 10-12 jumbo craft sticks with golden yellow acrylic paint, letting them dry before adding a second coat if needed. I trimmed one rounded end off each stick with scissors. Next, I printed and cut out the fry carton patterns, traced them onto red craft felt, and carefully cut out the shapes.

I attached 4-5 craft sticks to the base of the fry carton using a glue gun (liquid craft glue works too but dries slower). To add layers, I glued a second and third set of sticks randomly on top. Then, I finished assembling the carton by gluing the top part to the base.

For fun details, I brushed clear glitter glue onto each fry for a “salt” effect, added two wiggle eyes, pink craft felt cheeks, and glued everything in place. Finally, I drew a smile with a black marker, and my design was done!

Tips

  • Use low-temp glue guns to avoid accidental burns, especially if crafting with kids.
  • Apply thin layers of paint to avoid drips or uneven coverage.
  • Add glitter glue in small amounts and spread it quickly for a more even “salt” effect.

Craft Variations

  • Create a mini version using smaller craft sticks for a keychain or ornament.
  • Experiment with different colors of felt to make custom fry cartons.
  • Add accessories like bows or hats to your French fries for a cute, festive twist.
  • Turn it into a magnet for your fridge by attaching a magnet strip to the back.
