What Do I Need to Make My Paper Dolls?

When you get my paper dolls printable, you can instantly make your own dolls at home. And the best part about this cute Christmas craft is that you only need three supplies to put it together! To make your own paper nativity scene, you’ll need:

  • A home printer
  • Heavy weight paper or card stock. While you can easily print out these paper dolls on plain copy paper, I suggest using a heavier paper to make this craft last longer. To ensure your paper dolls hold up, it’s a good idea to use paper that’s at least 80 lb or regular white cardstock. The thick paper will make your dolls sturdier, allowing your kids to play with them after they put them together without worrying about the dolls falling apart after too much play time.
  • Scissors. After printing out the paper dolls, each of the pieces will need to be cut out. The good news is that the cuts are simple to make, which means older kids shouldn’t have a problem cutting out their doll pieces all on their own. But if you’re making this paper craft with younger children, it’s a good idea to leave the cutting the parents. After each of the pieces is cut, your preschooler can construct the dolls and manger scene on their own.
  • Glue. To construct the Christmas dolls with your kids, you’ll need glue for each of the pieces. You can use traditional white school glue, glue sticks, glue dots, or even a hot glue gun to put your dolls together.

How to Make Nativity Scene Paper Dolls

After downloading the printable paper dolls, you’ll need to take the time to cut out each doll and put it together. Follow these simple instructions to make your own paper nativity scene with this set of Christmas paper dolls.

  • Cut out the dolls. Start by cutting out each of the pieces of the dolls using a pair of sharp scissors. Simply cut out each piece around the border, then arrange all the pieces together according to which doll the pieces go to. Kids can also use crayons, markers or watercolor paints to fill in the white space if they like.
  • Assemble the dolls. After each piece is cut out, you can assemble the outfits of all the paper dolls. Start by creating the body by folding the triangle around so that the two sides touch each other. Place a line of glue along the tab on one side of the triangle and secure the other side on top. Hold the pieces together until the glue dries and the pieces are secure. Then, glue the arms and face onto the body.
  • Arrange the dolls in the scenes. In addition to the paper dolls, this nativity printable also includes some scenes for your kids to play with. The printable comes with background pages for your nativity scene, along with a manger.
