For the bats I created a PDF file that includes a template for the eyes and mouth. These will be traced onto black craft foam and then cut out with scissors.

For the bat’s eyes, you’ll use googly eyes.

DIY Dollar tree Halloween decorations

What supplies do you need to make DIY bat and ghost Halloween decorations?

  • Craft Sticks, Jumbo – Dollar Store
  • Crafts Sticks, Mini
  • Wiggle Eyes
  • Craft Foam, Black  (use construction paper if craft foam is not available)
  • Gingham Ribbon, Purple, Orange
  • White Paint Marker
  • Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
  • Acrylic Craft Paint – Black, White
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • CRAFT STICK BAT & GHOST PATTERNS

How to make bat and ghost Dollar tree Halloween crafts

STEP ONE

Gather all supplies. To create the Ghost, line up five jumbo craft sticks on your work surface. Using scissors, trim additional jumbo craft sticks to the width of the Ghost and attach with a glue gun and glue sticks. To create the Bat, line up six mini craft sticks on your work surface. Using scissors, trim additional jumbo craft sticks to the width of the Bat and attach with a glue gun and glue sticks.

TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.

Basecoat the craft stick Ghost with white acrylic craft paint. Basecoat the craft stick Bat with black acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary.

STEP TWO

Draw a curved line across the top of the back of the craft stick Ghost. Carefully trim the jumbo craft sticks with a pair of scissors.

Print, and cut out the CRAFT STICK GHOST & BAT PATTERNS. Trace the Ghost eyes and mouth onto black craft foam with a pencil. Cut out with scissors. Attach the features to the Ghost with a glue gun and glue sticks.

STEP THREE

Trace the Bat wings and ears onto black craft foam with a pencil. Cut out with scissors.

Attach two wiggle eyes, Bat wings and ears to the craft stick body with a glue gun and glue sticks.

Draw a curved mouth and two triangular pointy teeth on the craft stick Bat with a white paint marker.

STEP FOUR

Tie a small bow with orange and white gingham ribbon, then glue onto the Ghost. Tie a small bow with purple and white gingham ribbon, then glue onto the Bat.
