Can You Cook Noodles in the Instant Pot?

The beauty of this simple Thai dinner recipe is that you can cook everything in one pot! That means you’ll need to add your uncooked pasta to the pot with the rest of your ingredients. Luckily, cooking pasta noodles in your Instant Pot is quick and easy if you know these helpful tips:

  • Break the noodles in half. To ensure your noodles cook evenly, it’s a good idea to break the spaghetti noodles in half. This will help the pasta fit in the pot and allow you to spread them more evenly within the pan.
  • Criss-cross the noodles. As you’re adding the noodles to the Instant Pot, avoid placing them in the pan in bunches. Instead, spread the pasta in an even layer across the pan, then cross-cross the noodles on top to keep them from bunching up and sticking together.
  • Make sure they’re covered with broth or sauce. To help your noodles cook in the Instant Pot, lightly press the pasta into the broth or sauce. The broth will help the pasta soften as it cooks, which means the noodles need to be resting in the sauce throughout the cook time.
  • Don’t overcook the pasta. Since the ingredients in the pressure cooker will continue to cook as the pressure is released, it’s important not to overestimate the cook time. Setting the Instant Pot to cook for 4 minutes is a great option, giving your pasta an al dente finish.

Instant Pot Thai Peanut Noodle Recipe Tips

Making a delicious Thai inspired dinner at home is so easy when you use your Instant Pot! And with the help of these cooking tips, your dinner will taste amazing and be ready in no time.

  • Don’t skip the sauté. If you’re in a rush, it may be tempting to skip sautéing your veggies before adding the rest of the ingredients in the pot. But taking the time to do this step will add so much flavor to your dinner. And it only takes a few extra minutes!
  • Deglaze the pot to prevent a burn warning. After sautéing your vegetables in your Instant Pot, you may notice that some of the pieces are stuck to the bottom of the pan. To keep your dinner from being interrupted as it’s cooking, it’s important to take the time to deglaze the pot. This will prevent the dreaded burn warning from popping up while your noodles cook. To deglaze the pot, simply add the broth to the pan and use a wooden spoon to scrape the stuck-on pieces of vegetables off. After that, you can add the remaining ingredients and start cooking.
  • Cook longer for softer noodles. When you set your Instant Pot to cook for 4 minutes, your noodles will come out al dente. If you prefer your pasta to be on the softer side, you can increase the cook time to 6 minutes to ensure your noodles are cooked the way you like.
  • Keep leftovers refrigerated. If you have noodles left after dinner is over, transfer the leftovers to an airtight container. Keep the noodles stored in the fridge for up to three days and reheat them in the microwave.
